Toyota Hybrid Innovation
2020 Toyota Prius
The original 'pioneer' is at it again. The 2020 Prius takes hybrid into a new realm with its emotionally striking exterior, ultra-modern cockpit featuring a wrap-around dash design, and engagingly responsive drive. As befits a hybrid bearing the Prius name, it is also exceptionally fuel efficient, requiring a mere 4.5L/100km* (combined). As with previous generations, the 4th generation Prius is a showcase of advanced technology, from its hybrid powertrain to available Toyota Safety Sense - a group of cutting-edge active safety technologies including Lane Departure Alert and Pre-Collision System.
Toyota Mirai
The future of mobility is here. The convention-shattering Mirai is the world's first mass-produced hydrogen fuel cell vehicle, with performance that competes with traditional internal combustion engines - but uses no gasoline. The fuel cell works like this: Think of a battery-electric vehicle, except instead of a large drive battery, the fuel cell stack combines hydrogen gas with oxygen to produce electricity that powers the electric motor. No heavy emissions or carbon footprint. The performance is pretty remarkable too. In fact, the Mirai delivers one of the best power outputs in the world. In keeping with its forward-thinking spirit, Mirai also features an optional 'power take off' (PTO) device that enables it to serve as a mobile generator in case of power outage related emergencies. In fact, a fully charged Mirai is capable of powering home essentials in the average household for up to a week.
NS4
We revealed the NS4 advanced plug-in hybrid concept vehicle at the 2012 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Powered by a next-generation Hybrid Synergy Drive plug-in system - including significant reductions in component size and weight - the NS4 features longer all-electric range, faster acceleration and even greater fuel efficiency than our current plug-in technology.
i-Road
Meet the i-Road. An ultra-compact, all electric, zero emission, tandem 2-seater concept vehicle from Toyota. While mimicking a motorcycle ride, i-Road also features a closed cabin so that passengers can proceed helmet-free to their destination in comfort and shielded from the elements. At its core, i-Road represents a new way to overcome congested city streets and lack of parking. The vehicle offers a truly novel riding experience through an exhilarating and responsive "active lean" system. It's an innovation that ensures a stable ride and provides an unprecedented feeling of oneness with the vehicle that is very different from driving a car or motorcycle.
